This Toronto Island wedding was a VIBRANT, intimate celebration surrounded by water, trees, and the Toronto skyline. As a Toronto wedding photographer, I love how the island creates space for couples to slow down and focus on connection.

Wedding Morning on Toronto Island

Getting ready on Toronto Island has this grounded, summer-camp feeling — intimate, unrushed, and surrounded by nature — which made every moment feel more present and personal. Up until that moment, it was an experience I haven't had before with weddings; stepping outside and being surrounded by nature, isolated but extremely close to the city.
This simple backdrop gave each moment its own quiet significance, from buttoning dresses to steadying nerves before stepping into the day.

First Look by the Water

For their first look, it felt almost impossible not to choose the beach. Even if it meant sand in their shoes and along the hem of the dress, nothing really mattered with Lake Ontario stretching endlessly behind them. Harlan’s Point holds a special meaning for Kescha and Mathieu, which made the moment feel even more personal and grounded. I stepped back and simply watched it unfold, the wind, the water, the quiet anticipation. Afterward, we wandered over to the Gibraltar Point Lighthouse for a few more portraits before guests began arriving for the ceremony

Ceremony on Toronto Island

Guests arrived on the island by a private charter boat through Gibraltar Point, docking just steps from the venue, which made the whole experience feel seamless and intimate compared to the regular ferry. As they stepped off, the couple handed around a small camcorder, inviting everyone to film moments throughout the day, adding a playful, home-movie layer to the celebration. Because the space at Toronto Island isn’t closed off, passersby wandered along the path nearby, often slowing down, smiling, and watching the ceremony unfold like something out of a film. Their officiant, a close friend, filled the ceremony with heartfelt words and perfectly timed jokes, and I couldn’t stop laughing behind the camera. There’s something so special about having a friend lead your wedding ceremony – deeply personal, relaxed, and unexpectedly fun all at once.

Dinner Reception on the Island

Dinner at Toronto Island felt less like a formal reception and more like a long summer gathering with the people they love most. Long tables stretched beneath the open sky, inviting conversation and lingering, with soft golden light settling over every smile. The food was incredible, and the speeches were easily some of the funniest I’ve ever heard — the kind that make you laugh through tears. They seated me and my second photographer at different tables right in the middle of the guests, which was honestly brilliant. Not only could we eat without rushing every time someone grabbed the mic, but it helped everyone relax around us, leading to even more candid, joyful photos once dinner ended.
The couple also wrote a personalized message to each one of their guests, including me, and I never felt so special at a wedding before s2
Also, can we acknowledge how cute the coasters with their dog Indie were? Mathieu did the drawing himself!

Boat Party Celebration

You know what's funny? I had a meeting 2 weeks before the wedding with Keisha and Mathieu, and Mathieu asked: do you think people will have fun? hahaha
I'm laughing just by writing this because... well take a look at these pictures
